VA Aid & Attendance: Care at Home for Those Who Served
For veterans, surviving spouses, and their families
What Is Aid & Attendance?
Aid & Attendance is a monthly VA benefit for veterans and surviving spouses who need help with everyday activities. It's added to a VA pension or to Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) and paid directly to the veteran or spouse, who can use it toward care at home.
You May Qualify If You Are...
- A wartime veteran or surviving spouse
- Needing help with everyday activities like bathing, dressing, or eating
- Within the VA's income, asset, and age (65+) guidelines
How We Can Help
Bathing and getting dressed
Preparing meals
Getting around safely
Rides to doctor visits
Light housekeeping
Medication reminders
Care is built around what you need, not a one-size-fits-all checklist.
How Is This Paid For?
Families pay Boost at Home directly, like any private-pay service. Aid & Attendance is a tax-free pension addition paid monthly to the veteran or surviving spouse and can go toward the cost of care. We keep the records the VA looks for: a care agreement, visit logs, and invoices.

Getting Started Is Simple
1
We talk with your family about what's needed.
2
You meet with your County Veterans Service Officer to apply, free of charge.
3
Care begins on a schedule that works for you.
Good to Know
MEDICAL EXPENSES
Care costs can help you qualify. What you pay for home care may count as a medical expense, lowering your countable income.
INTENT TO FILE
You may not need to wait. Ask your Veterans Service Officer about an Intent to File, which can protect your benefit start date. If approved, benefits may be paid back to that date.
